    How we reach our goals

    Optimisation of the vehicle fleet

One of the company's values is "We embrace change". That is why we are constantly looking for partners who are also engaged in digitalisation and process improvement in the freight market.

With selected partners, we launch pilot projects to optimise our own fleet. For example, reducing fuel consumption per trip.

If a partner's project proves to be effective after testing, we start offering it to customers of the Monopoly.Online platform so that they can modernise their own fleets.

    Tyre Recovery and Disposal

«Monopoly» JSC has been reducing the cost of buying new tyres since 2016 by reducing waste.

We refurbish tyres using the 'cold' method. The top layer is removed from the tyre and a new layer with tread is poured and sintered to replace it. The important prerequisite is that no sealing, integrity of the tyre carcass or cord must be compromised.

Each year we regenerate more than 40% of the tyres in our own fleet of tractors and trailers using this method.

We do not run this programme ourselves, but in partnership with five Russian factories. If the partners see that it is not possible to carry out refurbishment work, we send the tyres for recycling.

We launched separate waste recycling. We started with the Monopoly head office in St. Petersburg. Now there are special boxes installed to collect waste paper and used batteries.

We made newsletters explaining how paper is produced and why it is important to reuse it.

We analyzed the results for the second quarter of 2022 and found that employees were wasting 17% less paper compared to the first quarter.

Launched separate waste collection. We started with the Monopoly’s head office in St. Petersburg. Now special boxes have been installed there to collect waste paper and used batteries.

We analysed the results for the second quarter of 2022 and found that employees were wasting 17% less paper compared to the first quarter.

The volume of paper purchases from the company decreased by the same amount. And the downward trend continues.

The Green Office concept involves not only the introduction of separate waste collection, but also taking care of employee health and wellbeing. For example, «Monopoly» JSC has sports clubs - volleyball and running - that were launched at the initiative of its employees.

Also on their initiative, the company launched a bookcrossing service: special shelves were installed and the first batch of 25 books about business was purchased. The rest of the books were donated by employees. This is how we promote conscious consumption, as well as develop our employees' hard and soft skills.

    Swap party at the office

Swap parties are a great opportunity to review your belongings and give away unnecessary but usable items to colleagues or donate them to a charitable foundation. This format is practiced in our company.

The first swap party was held in August 2022. The items left after the party, which weighed 13 kilograms, were transferred to the Spasibo Charity shop.

The second swap party was held in December 2022, and it turned out to be more ambitious. Fifty people brought their items, and we transferred 36.3 kilograms of things to the Spasibo Charity shop.

In March 2023, a spring swap party was held, and a little less than 100 employees of the company took part in it. They brought a total of 150 items, which were then handed over to the Spasibo Charity shop and the Lepta Foundation. In total, the weight of the items was 29 kilograms.

We plan to hold such events at the end of each season to help our colleagues become more conscious about their consumer habits.

    TMS on the Monopoly.Online platform

Transportation Management System (TMS) allows you to see vehicle load and schedule unavailability — the moment a vehicle is loaded and on a trip, as well as account for empty runs.

    Already now you can:
    • Add requests from the Monopoly.Online platform and third-party freight owners.
    • Move requests on timeline.
    • Leave comments.

    The current status of each request is visible: «in progress», «on confirmation», «empty mileage».

Later, the system will be able to upload reports on fulfilled requests.

Thanks to the implementation of TMS, we are training our partners in competent trip planning, which will allow us to reduce empty runs and find a load in any Russian city.

"Better Without Plastic": The Case of Monopoly Group on Reducing Carbon Footprint

There is an abundance of plastic in the world, especially plastic cards. Approximately 17 billion plastic items, or 85 million kg, exist globally. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC), the material from which almost all cards are made, is one of the most toxic types of plastic. In Russia, there is little infrastructure for the environmentally-friendly disposal of PVC, so most cards will end up in landfills after their expiration date, polluting the environment for many years.

In 2018, Monopoly Group of Companies launched the Monopoly.Online platform, marking the first step towards digitizing our logistics and the cargo transportation industry as a whole. The next step is to move the refueling process to a digital environment and phase out fuel cards.

Carriers can now refuel at Multiservice fuel stations in several ways:

    • Presenting the vehicle registration number (STS in Russian) and entering the PIN code at the operator.
    • Using a barcode generated in the Monopoly.AZS mobile application.
    • Making contactless transactions through the Monopoly.AZS mobile application, without visiting the operator.

    Here are the results:

By the end of 2022, more than 5,500 carriers used the services of Monopoly.Multiservice, refueling their cars at partner network fuel stations, eliminating the need for approximately 45,000 fuel cards.

Environmental concerns were one of the reasons why Multiservice decided to stop issuing plastic fuel cards. Each fuel card weighs about 5g, which means we have avoided "polluting" the environment with almost 225 kg of plastic.

Another reason is cost savings. The cost of one plastic card can reach up to 300 rubles. As a result, Multiservice has saved carriers 13,500,000 rubles.

In addition, refueling without a fuel card is safer, easier, faster, and more convenient. At the same time, Multiservice continues to develop its services, making them more comfortable for both drivers and company owners.
